We are Ontario rally and protest at Queen's Park

Budget fairness was the call as "We Are Ontario" stage a mass rally with the Day of Action Against Cuts on Saturday April 21, 2012 at 3pm with over 90 community and labour groups represented including Sid Ryan's Ontario Federation of Labour.

The rally had a stage on the south lawn of Queen's Park, and while a large group gathered, the rest headed to the north lawn to march into the south lawn. After a few hours of speeches, they went up to Wesley, east to Bay, north to Bloor and south on University. They wanted to go to Yorkville where the "1% hang out". And on Bay but were there was a construction site with about 10 concrete trucks waiting to empty their loads.
Occupy Toronto reps said they are going to have a rally on May 1, 2012 at 4 pm in Nathen Phillips square, and they wanted everyone to withdraw there labour, or at least "leave work early", that day to join them.

“When voters reduced McGuinty’s government to a minority, they called for compromise and fairness in the legislature. Instead, the Premier has tabled a budget that cuts funding for hospitals, schools and social assistance while refusing to heed to public demand for corporations to pay their fair share after years of paying less,” said Ontario Federation of Labour President Sid Ryan. “By putting the interests of bankers ahead of Ontario families, Premier McGuinty has awakened a deep and diverse opposition that reflects every community in the province.”
